Fuerteventura 2018 Day 6

Fuerteventura 2018

Day 6

This morning started with me helping Alex to pack and get ready for his holiday ritual of climbing the nearest mountain. Volcan Bayuyo in this case, situated about 4km outside of Corralejo. I made sure he had plenty of water and suncream as he planned to run there and back, making the climb in between.

I took the opportunity to tidy up the apartment whilst he was gone- One downside to having an Airbnb was that there was no maid service during our stay. You keep your privacy but have to deal with a load of sand everywhere instead!

Alex arrived back very hungry and sweating buckets at around midday. After he'd freshened up, we had lunch: bread, ham, chorizo, olives, cheese, crisps and pastries, along with a cold beer.

We went down to the pool afterwards with our new purchases (lilo and ball) and spent around 45 minutes playing catch in the pool. The water was cold, as it had been over the last few days, but after 5 minutes of activity, it felt warmer than the breezy Canary Island air!

We sunbathed for a while and Alex almost fell asleep!

After returning to the apartment to get ready for dinner and watch some Spanish television programmes, we took a long walk down to La Marquesina where we had eaten on the second night. Alex ordered pork fillets in a mushroom sauce and I chose the fish of the day which was seabass. We washed it down with a litre of sangria, of course! We were entertained by some live music from a Scandinavian jazz guitarist which was very fitting of the restaurant's relaxed and high-class feel.

We returned to the Reef Bar for drinks and then did some souvenir shopping on our walk back to the apartment.
