Fuerteventura 2018 Day 3

Fuerteventura 2018

Day 3

We started off our third day much the same as our second: by the pool, sunbathing and reading.
After lunch on our terrace, we headed out on our first bike ride! We decided to head down to a beach slightly further along from our apartment today, seeing as it would take us so much less time to make the journey! Once we had chained our bikes up, we laid out our beach towels and relaxed.

This beach was different from the beach we went to on Day 2. The water was much shallower for longer and so you could walk out quite a distance from the beach and still only be in knee high water. The fact that the water was so shallow meant that it was significantly warmer that the other beach's water which was a mahoosive thumbs up from us!

The water was also so clear and a gorgeous turquoise colour once the water begins to get slightly deeper. As you walk out, if you look down at your feet, you see little schools of tiny white fish swim away with every step.

Following on from yesterday's hole digging, Alex decided to make a sand sculpture of a fish:

After a few hours, we were beached out! We cycled back to the apartment to drop off our beach stuff. We then decided that instead of hanging around at the apartment, we wanted to go for another bike ride, further into Corralejo.

We ended up cycling down to the harbour and along the sea front, chaining our bikes up outside our favoured spot for drinks- Reef Sports Bar. Coffees and patatas fritas were ordered and we sat back and relaxed in the shade of the mid-day sun, doing a spot of people-watching and looking at all the action of the wind-surfing school out on the water.

Around 5pm we returned to our apartment and got ready for the evening.

Because of the amazing atmosphere down near the harbour the night before, we chose to return there for dinner this evening. There were several restaurants that we walked past that looked great so were up for trying somewhere new. We ended up choosing La Playita which was busy (this can only be a good sign) and looked out onto the same little beach area as La Marquesina. The atmosphere tonight was just as upbeat and busy, this time because of a foam party happening on the beach... No, we did not join in. There was live music to accompany the foam party. (It wasn't the sort of crazy alcohol-induced foam party you would associate with holidays in Magaluf or Ibiza... this was a subdued children's foam party!!)

We both had beers instead of Sangria with our dinner. Alex chose the chicken kebab and I chose the grilled lamb chops. Both came with chips and vegetables and were amazing!

Surprise surprise when we had finished up our dinner and paid the bill, we walked along the seafront back towards our apartment and stumbled into the Reef Sports Bar (can you see there's a pattern emerging here?). Alex didn't fancy any more alcohol (party-pooper) so had a coffee. I, on the other hand, decided to go for my favourite alcoholic beverage: Aperol Spritz. For only 6, It seemed as though they had poured half the Aperol bottle into my glass... biggest and strongest Aperol Spritz I've ever had... Not complaining!

Cheers!
